WHO WE ARE  &  WHO WE AIN'T !

WHO WE ARE:

The Confederate States of America
  Historical Preservation Society
                  (CSA-HPS)

We are ...a political action group of down home citizens in the State of South Carolina utilizing the legal democratic process of petitioning / demanding  Governor Sanford, and our State Legislator(s), the right of WE THE PEOPLE "Citizens of the State of South Carolina " a vote on the issue of the Confederate flag flying on the State House Dome, or Incorporated in the SC State flag,  in honor of the Confederate soldier, that honored the call of duty when called upon by his State - and "Shall Never be Forgotten" by his State or his descendant's - (a shameful blot on South Carolina history) AND A VOTE PREVIOUSLY DENIED THE PEOPLE.

CSA HPS was founded February 22, 1992 - by a prior SCV (Sons of Confederate Veterans) member who saw the need for a political action group to defend the Confederate heritage via a public relation campaign with rallies at the S.C. State House intended to educate the general public with factual and historical data, to support the historical signifance of the Confederate flag and heritage.

Although the flag was removed from the S.C. dome, CSA-HPS, working with the S.C. Conservative Action Councel; these two groups were key in successfully educating the general public in that the Confederate flag represents all races of the South in this time of war, which has made a significant difference in the attitude of many; some of which researched the subject further and verified the history for themselves - all the while heritage supporters were portrayed by the MEDIA as red necks, skin heads, and klansmen - which just isn't the case of course.

CSA-HPS is a single issue Political Action Group, and has a long history of activism.

With the first rally at the S.C. State House in 1992, we fought  the flag and heritage issue at the S.C. State House 1992 - 2000, when the flag was removed from the State House Dome.

Major accomplishments during this time period was educating the general public throughout the state via our activism that the Confederate heritage is historically composed of many races; Native American, Irish, Jewish, and African Confederate Soldiers - the latter not acknowledged by our opponents, the MEDIA and the NAACP.

We successfully investigated and exposed MEDIA scandals we dubbed the "MERCEDES BENZ SCANDAL", AND "THE DOROTHY BOO SCANDAL".
(See "SCANDALS" in the side bar menu)

We were there when the State turned the issue over to the S.C. Supreme Court who were Democrat and  came  against the flag as a party effort - and our activism brought cause to kick the issue back into the legislators laps.

We were there at Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head, and Charleston with NAACP Counter Rally's, (among many other battles and battle fields)

In the end, we were betrayed by many of the legislators that had expressed support, and again when they took it upon themselves to vote the flag down, and DENIED THE PEOPLE THE VOTE ON THE ISSUE.

We are now back in 2008 with a PETITION OF DEMANDS - which includes allowing the citizens of the state the vote on the issue.

(See "THE PETITION" in the side bar menu)

* PUBLIC EVENTS:  Any illegal or improper activities encountered are to be reported and handled by the proper authorities at all times, and CSA-HPS has a good reputation working with authorities on these matters
The proper authorities are always notified and informed in advance on the nature of all our activities, and thus have provided ample security at the State House, and on other battlefields such as Myrtle Beach, and Hilton Head among others. Additonally, if you are not respectful of others at any of our events, our security will ask the authorities to have you removed from our presence, as such disrespect and activity serve no useful purpose.

WHO WE AIN'T !

We are not - the SCV  (Sons of Confederate Veterans)

We are not - Senator Glen McConnells Boys.

We are not - the Heritage Preservation Association (HPA)

We are not - associated with racist or hate organizations.

We are not - trying to start the war again.

We are not - involved in any criminal activity.

We are not - involved in any form of sedition against the  U.S.  government.

We do not - get drunk at the State House after rallies. (Yea, thats been said too !!!)

We do get a little roudy at times according to Hank Williams Jr. !!!

We do work with authorities at all public events.

We do not condone disrespect to others at any time.

We do recognize all races that defended the South against Northern invasion, as was traditionally the case at all Confederate veteran reunions after the war.

SPECIAL NOTE:
*It is important to note WHO WE ARE because in the last flag fight at the State House, other groups that did absolutely nothing of any significance were thought by many to be CSA-HPS, or one of our allied groups, and provided badly needed support in the way of contributions went to them by folks thinking these groups were CSA-HPS, only to find out later, they had contributed to the wrong group - a group that for all practicle purposes were not to be found among our ranks, or even involved in fighting for the flag and heritage.

For example, the SCV (Sons of Confederate Veterans) were invited to participate in every action and every rally - but in 8 years at the S.C. State House, never attended save one - one (1) State House rally which was their own rally. This speaks not so much for the membership of the SCV, as it does for the leadership.

As a result, in the 8 years of fighting at the State House, we received very little in the way of badly needed support for our effort, and at that time we did not have the time or means to correct the matter.

Additionally, the media did the same - reporting other groups as speaking on our behalf, and these other groups were again all to happy to allow the media to believe they were us, and assumed our hard work and credit.

Several of these groups compromised on the flag issue at that time, and it was reported in the media that "heritage supporters" agreed to the compromise to remove the flag from the dome, which enabled the legislators to settle the issue, rather than allowing the people to vote.

Those of us outside the State House never surrendered, and we never compromised. The citizens of the State were denied the vote.

Please make yourself aware which group you support.

A REQUEST FOR ALL CONFEDERATE ORGANIZATIONS TO COME TOGETHER

This is a call for all Confederate organizations, in state and out of state, to come together, and help with the S.C. LET US VOTE campaign. This will be a continious State wide campaign till the people of the State of S.C. are given the vote on the issues. Please visit www.csahps.com for details on the issues.
We are soliciting help from all Confederate organizations because we need the help, and it's not just our flag, the flag and heritage belong to all of us. As was recently said by a SHAPE member in Mississippi - That what affects one state affects all other states.
This campaign will not be the effort of one group competing against other groups or organizations and rightfully should be an effort of all organizations, and/or people and individuals that have a common appreciation for the heritage.
Common sense dictates that everyone working together and on the same page will produce better results.
The Sons of Confederate Veterans, The United Daughters of the Confederacy, The League of the South, The Heritage Preservation Association, The Confederate Society of America, and others, should all come together for the common cause of preserving our heritage - and help those of us out there fighting for the heritage.
We remain the last vestiges of the heritage. If action is not taken now to preserve the heritage, it will be burried beneath the pages of history - as if it isn't already. The time to act is now.
WHAT CAN YOU DO ?
Well, currently we need a good turn out in Greenville, and all future rally's in the future till we are given the vote, and hopefully that vote will be in our favor - if we work on it. Promote the cause within your organizaton to attend, and do all you can.
We need as much radio advertising as possible. $50 buys 7 spots at the radio station. If you or your group can help with radio advertising, it would be well worth the $50, and you can claim your organization in the radio advertising if you like. The money can be sent direct to the radio station. Time is of the essence, as there are only about 10 days remaining before this event - so act fast please. Contact us at area51news@rock.com
SPECIAL NOTE:
Now - in the last flag fight here 1992 - 2000 virtually all groups competed against one another, or did nothing at all, while at the same time making claims they were working for the heritage and collecting contributions. One group in particular, in several instances, sent out fliers that our State House rally's were not approved, and not to attend. In other instances, newpaper advertising was used by a competing group to state the public should not attend our event !
ADVANCE WARNING:
In the event the above happens this go round starting Aug 29, 2000 in Greenville S.C., be advised that we are going to list all such groups on our web site, send out news releases to all blogs and web sites that we possibly can - and expose the charade on a continious basis. And to those organizations, don't be surprised if you receive a flagging, and not just once.
Additionally, in the event you are a merchandiser and sell Confederate flags, or any related Confederate merchandise in the State of South Carolina - and you do not support the campaign - we will extend some of the same considerations to you that we do for the worthless fake Confederate organizations.
A list will be developed of those that support the effort of our campaign, and those that do not - just the same as for organizations.
Currently, we encourage all supporters to ask merchandisers of Confederate related items if they are supporting the LET US VOTE CAMPAIGN - and if not to inform them of this notice. In proper time, you can check both lists to see who's who. Please provide contact information on any merchandisers, and we will send them notice.
This notice will be posted in the ABOUT US tab of the www.csahps.com web site.
